Just one other thought, if you haven't already done this, you might check on
a bios update for that computer.  I see on the web that there have been some
issues with that cpu and there are some bios updates out there if you happen
to be using an outdated bios.

I am not a computer expert, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express (tm)
last night.

However, I am still running XP Pro on the radio computer and have done so
with both AMD and Intel processors.  In fact, I have done so with several
AMD configurations.

And in each instance with AMD, there came a point in time where I can only
describe the computer as acting "flaky" including the operation of DXbase.
Since switching to an Intel MB and processor, I have had no such problems.

This is not meant as an indictment of AMD, just my personal observation. 
  And I was never able to pinpoint why I had the "flaky" behavior.

In any event, I hope you will be able to work it out.
