I vote for that.
I also think people need to be made more aware that extra functionality does
NOT
have to be added to the /api/*.js files..
they can VERY easilly be put into a sperate file and loaded as an extension
when needed,
in fact, I think some of the current core code could indeed be move into
extensions,
thereby making the core api a little tighter, while still allowing people to
use those functionalities, IF THEY NEED THEM..
