I came upon this article before while researching for a different subject:

One could combine that with Java for NS4 and JScript's ActiveXObject for IE4 (as done
in AfroAPI) to cover nearly all combinations of browsers and OSes that DynAPI supports
(I think).
NS6 would still have problems with this approach however because they built it on the
Mozilla 0.6 codebase. If/when Netscape updates their code this would fix itself.
(I haven't actually checked if this would work - but it should!)
