Well,...
after spending a little time with our wondrous image animation utility
(imageanim.js) I've pretty much concluded that it's an afterbirth related to
the development of Thread and PathAnimation.
Most the methods that it over-rides are about as practical as pissing into
the wind on a winter day; at first glance it "feels" good but after a little
more quality time in the environment your ice coated gonads scream the
truth.
So,...
based on that I wrapped most the existing functionality in an empty
McDonalds cheeseburger wrapper an through it in the trash. I'm currently
working on a revised one that will offer a little more (cough) practical set
of image animation methods. Simple things like...
animMoveTo
animChainTo // forward or backwards
frameMarkers // ala Flash key frames
automatic image array maker
etc....
I'll be presenting this along with a revised image preloader that leverages
Richards technique to allow images to trigger onload events but with a
fraction of the overload and minimal typing to convert an image file into
onload image array. It also seems to work about 300% faster (it includes
variable speed control for you animation junkies who want to "present" a
preloader bar.
I'm pretty much revising my current site "front door" and it will showcase
lots of neat tricks.
Later,
Raymond
