I think I understand where the confusion is.  You interpreted Dan's 
statement that he was "re-assuming ownership" of the widgets to mean 
that he is taking away the widgets from us?  Not so.  The widgets that 
currently reside in 2.5.6 will remain.

I think what Dan is stating is that the widget pack he's creating for 
2.6 will not be distributed without a cost (which is different than 
"open sourced").  I'm sure there will be no problem for the rest of us 
to write our own widgets to replace them, or modify the existing widgets 
for inclusion in the 2.6 (or equivalent) distro from SourceForge.

Again, I think Dan is talking about charging for the widgets he himself 
writes, not all widgets in general.  If anyone has a problem with that, 
they can write their own (which will probably happen anyway, because 
everyone thinks they can write it better, right?) or modify the existing 
ones.
