okay then.
I musthave been dreaming when I whent to upgrade my buddy's PC the IE 5.5
-only to find that once I got to the download page there was no DOWNLOAD
and that there was a message stating that "the IE5.5 download is temporarily
unavailable.."

It is now up.. so god knows why they shut it down before.

I will thank you not to liken my to a histerical school girl who has heard a
rumor
that the spicegirls will be comming to their school.

Thank You,
Doug Melvin

Guys, this has a great "urban legend" smell to it.

1. Microsoft's had recent troubles because of the configuration and
management of their routers. A router is a piece of hardware that does
not run IE 5.5. The version of IE 5.5 on my desktop does not control
Microsoft's router hardware in any way.

2. I've never heard of Microsoft recalling a product they distribute for
download. They certainly offer patches, and there is a service pack 1
for IE 5.5.

3. I can't find any evidence of this "recall" on Microsoft's web site.
Can you?

Let's not whip up yet another email myth....

I think the recall is directly related to the pounding Microsoft's
websites have been taking.

Recalled? Why? Does anyone know what this is about?
Why is it they never recall anything until after I have installed it?
The same thing happened to me with NT 4's SP4...
Well, let's just say THAT little episode taught me to back-up my code
on a server as often as possible...
