Dear Mark,

Is this fake or real?

The e-mail is fake. If you check the headers, you may find that it wasn't sent from anywhere near Florida. The ones I've gotten all came from Germany (.de).

Why must I log on and why must I change anyting, I
just used the account and it was fine?

You must never log on by clicking a link from within an e-mail of this type. The scammers who sent this spam to you and others want to try to grab your e-gold account number and password, then steal your gold. Do not let them.

What's up?

The world has bad people in it who are trying to take your e-gold. Don't let them.

-------------------Received this and a few similar------------------
Your new e-gold passphrase is: 71axxxxx

Whenever you get a message like that, check the "raw source" or at least "view headers." The raw source will reveal the actual URL destination of anything that looks like you might click on it. In this case, it isn't going to send you off to https://www.e-gold.com/etc. but to some fake log-in site.

If you are accessing your e-gold account, you can
always go to the browser location window and type:
  use.e-gold.com
and it should take you to the real secure login
page after you hit <enter>.

If you are not sure, then type www.e-gold.com and
click the access link from the home page.

Regards,

Jim
