I have a suggestion, or perhaps a request, for a future extension to
the SCI. This is a rather complex idea, so please pardon the length
of this message.

The idea is to help e-commerce originators in implementing their
affiliate programs with little technical knowledge.

Let us assume, for the sake of example, that the holder of yhe e-gold
account number 123456 is selling SuperWidgets on the Internet for
one try ounce of gold each. Let us further assume that the holder
of e-gold account 222222 is affiliate who is to be paid 40%, or
0.40 oz of gold for any sale originated by his web marketing savvy.

Moreover, 222222 became an affiliate because at some time in the past
he clicked through a business opportunity link on the web site of
the holder of e-gold account 777777. Thus, when 222222 sells,
777777 is paid 10%, or 0.10 oz.

There is currently only one way to implement such an affiliate
system via e-gold. Customer 654321 finds the SuperWidget at
222222's web site and clicks through to 123456's site with 222222's
affiliate ID encoded somewhere in the URL. Nothing revolutionary
about that (anymore).

Now, he will find a form on SuperWidgets web site through which
he gets to e-gold web site and spends 1 oz of gold to account 123456.
Then, on a totally separate occasion, 123456 has to log in and spend
0.4 oz of gold to 222222. Then, 123456 will separately spend 0.10 oz
to 777777.

That is how it is done today because that is the only way to do it
(it can be automated, but many e-commerce originators are not
rechnically savvy enough to do that).

Now, what I am suggesting/requesting as a future addition to SCI is
the ability to make a "split payment" which would allow 123456 to
create an HTML form with the following instructions to e-gold server:

1. Accept 1 oz of gold from whoever clicks through;
2. Add 0.40 oz of gold to account 222222;
3. Add 0.10 oz of gold to account 777777;
4. Add the rest (0.50) oz of gold to account 123456;
5. Inform 123456's server/or email about it all;
6. E-mail 222222 that he received 0.40 oz of gold from 123456;
7. E-mail 777777 that he received 0.10 oz of gold from 123456;
8. Send whoever clicked through to thankyou.html (as done already).

In this system, it is e-gold's system that becomes the ultimate
affiliate program manager. It saves 123456 on commission since he
is only charged 1% of 0.50 oz. More importantly, 123456 does not
have to do any extra work to pay his affiliates. They get paid
not at the end of the month. They get paid at the moment of purchase.
That, of course, makes for happy affiliates, which in turn makes
e-commerce providers want to go with e-gold instead of some other
payment processor.

Ideally, there should be no limit on the number of splits (either
that, or at least 10 or so). Obviously, the split would have to
add up to whatever the payee is spending, or return an error (the
ability to pay the originator "the rest" would help prevent such
an error).

Other payment processors (i.e., e-gold's competitors such as PayPal)
CANNOT do this, well they could, but no one in his right mind would
use it because of the possibility of chargebacks. But since every
e-gold transaction is completed and irreversible, it makes perfect
sense for a vendor to pay his affiliates at the moment of transaction
if it makes his job (software) easier, his affiliates happier, and
even gets him less figuring out how to fill out his tax return.
