Hi! On the 6th of February of this year I wrote to tell you about the problems I was having with my eagle based modem, I'm sorry I have not provided more feedback since then, but I know have more input to provide you on the problems I see with the modem.
I have changed my server to a UP system, opposed to my old SMP one, and I have found some things when testing the modem with this new server. 1- The problem with the system freeze I used to have when using the driver in 2.4 kernels continues to happen in this new system, but I have managed to narrow the thing a bit, it only happens with ohci based cards, not uhci ones. The problem happens after doing the eaglectrl -d to upload the firmware, as soon as the firmware is uploaded, and only in 2.4 kernels. 2- The modem gets software disconnected on some conditions. I cannot descrive the conditions, but I have managed to get this to happen using old uhci devices (usb 1.1 via and intel based systems), when I send a lot of mails to my system (postfix based). This happens in both 2.4 and 2.6, a typical log of this is this one: ... Mar 31 03:18:46 bri kernel: [Eagle-usb] transmit error with URB status -110 Mar 31 03:18:46 bri last message repeated 4 times Mar 31 03:18:46 bri kernel: hub.c: already running port 2 disabled by hub (EMI?), re-enabling... Mar 31 03:18:46 bri kernel: usb.c: USB disconnect on device 00:07.2-2 address 4 Mar 31 03:18:46 bri kernel: [eagle-usb] eu_irq : URB canceled by user. Mar 31 03:18:46 bri kernel: [eagle-usb] ADSL device removed Mar 31 03:18:46 bri kernel: hub.c: new USB device 00:07.2-2, assigned address 5 Mar 31 03:18:47 bri kernel: [eagle-usb] New USB ADSL device detected, waiting for DSP code... Mar 31 03:18:47 bri kernel: [eagle-usb] created proc entry at : /proc/driver/eagle-usb/001-005 ... Well, I don't know what else to add, the modem is working quite stable when used in a modern USB 2.0 card, like my ohci based one when using 2.6.11. I suppose you'll need more info to track this down, please don't hesitate to ask for it. Regards... -- Manty/BestiaTester -> http://manty.net
