Microsoft's implementation is hugely different. IDEA guarantees that you won't loose information by saving on loss of focus. Microsoft is solely based on time. I can't iconify intellij, forget about it, and then pull the plug. The only way I'm going to loose something is if I crash while editing in IDEA, in which case I would have lost data in any of the other models as well.
