My main dislike is the fact that there may be half a screen between where I'm typing and where the currently highlighted parameter is in the tooltip.
Single line tooltips that don't centre will always be prone to the problem of screen overflow. Multiline tooltips might be ok, but you'd potentially just be increasing the distance between the caret and the highlighted parameter. Another problem might be the differentiation between 2 lines of the one prototype and 2 lines of 2 different prototypes.
