You can't.

It is a different kind of paradigm.  What you see is what is saved.

If you want to "futz around", create a new file to do it in.  

I must admit it took me some time to get used to it, but I think I would have 
difficulty 
with other editors. (I'd forget to save :-).  On balance, I like it.
