Adobe released Photoshop LE for $100. I assume they did that so fewer people would pirate the full version of Photoshop. Anyway, back to IDEA. I am very happy that my company bought a license for me and that my work computer is also my home computer so I can use IDEA at home. I write software in my spare time, but I don't have a lot of spare time these days so I don't use IDEA for personal stuff enough to justify spending even $200 on it. If I didn't already have a copy of IDEA, I'd respect IntelliJ's price and go back to JEdit or try Eclipse or something. I have seen other dev tools have a very cheap license with the stipulation that it cannot be used to create commercial software (or shareware in some cases). I don't know how well this works out for the companies, but it seems to work out well for the freeware/personal developers.
