I'm sure we don't need to point out that to implement advanced
features that run quickly, the developers need to allocate more
memory.

You could try something smaller, like vi, notepad, SlickEdit or
JEdit.  They are all smaller.  Much less features, of course,
but that's the tradeoff.  More_features == more_memory.

I upgraded to a new notebook...primarily so I could use IDEA
more effectively.
