I've found the reproducible issue I have with the matching braces. I say
issue because I'm not certain that I would classify this as a bug...
If I type
misspelledMethd(
I get
misspelledMethd(<cursor>)
I then backspace to correct my spelling error and I get
misspelledMeth<cursor>)
I correct the spelling, and go forward again, and I end up with
misspelledMethod(<cursor>))
While IDEA build 611 will type over the first matching right paren, the
second one is in the way. This gets real confusing in nested calls.
I'm certainly the odd man out on my team when it comes to this feature.
Everyone else loves it. If the editor can be smart enough to solve this
problem for me, I'd probably be just fine. Otherwise, I'd simply like the
ability to disable it from the options dialog.

Unfortunately for me, I've had several situations where IDEA build #611 did
not type over the braces. That's what prompted me to write the e-mail in
the first place.
The team I work with uses IntelliJ exclusively - and we usually download
the new EAP build as soon as it's available. The very morning I downloaded
#611 I ran across situations where there were too many closing parenthesis
in a statement. That's what prompted my search for a 'on off' toggle in the
IDE options box, and the e-mail to this list when I didn't find one.
I'm afraid that at the moment, I cannot consistently reproduce situations
where I do get extra braces, and where IDEA types over them for me. I
vaguely remember it having something to do with me backspacing over typos.
I'll be sure to submit a bug report when I encounter a reproducible
situation again.
