Yep, I think it'd be incredibly annoying to not move focus around as needed,
as the other windows almost always have context specific information that
selects a new file in the editor window. There's a shortcut anyways to bring
focus back to the last window that had it.

My pet annoyance with the build/compile window is when everything is ok, it
still pops up and down again very quickly. It'd be nice if a warning/error
triggers the 'show compile window' action, rather than the build/compile
action itself.
