I don't know if I can explain this well, but several icons (open, save all, copy) leave a very wrong impression. The main feeling I have it's that they have the wrong orientation: the foreground is on the left and the background is on the right.
This creates the feeling that the buttons are "going away" - I see first the foreground next to me, and then I see the background going away from me. Something like this is in photography manuals: When the subject is on the left looking to the right, he is looking ahead, looking at new things, looking to the future, etc - we first see the subject looking at something and then see the something new that the subject is looking at. A subject on the right looking to the left is looking at the past: we see some object/thing and then we notice the subject looking at something that has already gone past. Of course, if you are intending to push idea on right to left writing (and seeing?) markets, the new icons should be very forward thinking indeed:) That being said, some observations: 1. I don't much like rainbows in my development environment - I prefer rainbows painted on the sky. 2. At 1280x1024 on my 19inch monitor most of the icons are fuzzy Due mostly to that, I have to look really close at the buttons to see any menaing in them. 4. Back and forward icons look like butterflys or something like that - I think it's already been mencioned in the least. 5. I have already said that idea has become a very colorful ide haven't I. Jus't to finish, as I work with the toolbar hidden, this is mostly academic:) Carlos > > > In fact, I was quite amazed about the enthusiasm over the new > > icons.
