This was something I was looking for as well but at present it isn't
easy to add additional file sharing systems to eBox. NIS isn't
supported either at present, though that should be easier to
implement (IMHO you would be better using LDAP than NIS as it is more
secure and flexible. There has been some recent discussion about
using LDAP across the network from eBox on either this or the devel
list. )
However, eBox does provide an excellent framework to base you work
on. It would be relatively easy to add NFS as a manual task. That
way, you get all of the benefits of the rest of the system. The only
thing to be aware of is that eBox does not care about the state of
the config files it manages and simply overwrites them thought with
NFS that shouldn't be a problem.
You could also use eBox as a PDC and use winbind on the clients which
would mean you could just use what eBox provides.
Once the file sharing API is more loosely coupled with the Samba
module, I intend on implementing NFS, Netatalk, FTP and other file
sharing if they don't become core modules from Warp. From the state
of things a month or so ago, it's likely that we be after the 1.0
release coming in the next few months.
