I did a "sudo freshclam" with the user being generated during install and ended up with ERROR: /var/log/clamav/freshclam.log is locked by another process ERROR: Problem with internal logger (UpdateLogFile = /var/log/clamav/freshclam.log).
the user root does NOT exist on the standard ebox-ISO-install. Best regards, Klaus _____ Von: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Im Auftrag von Jose Juan Montes Gesendet: Montag, 17. I have the same issue as well. I think clamav signatures can be manually updated using freshclam tool. I'll see if I can look into this tomorrow. "frehsclam" is the tool used to automatically update ClamAV. You can simply type "freshclam" as root and the database should be updated (otherwise you may be missing the clamav-freshclam package). The "clamav-freshclam" package also contains an init.d script that runs clamav-freshclam as a daemon, so you shouldn't need to worry about updating the virus database manually. You can find its log at /var/log/clamav/freshclam.log. Have a look and check if it's running correctly. Now, you'll need to sometimes update the ClamAV package itself (you will be warned about this by freshclam). Ubuntu offers package upgrades often and I guess you can manually download newer versions. eBox may take care of the automated upgrade if you use the Software Management module. In any case, ClamAV FAQ (http://www.clamav.net/support/faq) states that you should upgrade whenever you see the following message: "WARNING: Your ClamAV installation is OUTDATED!". However, I think that this is really only necessary when a new level of functionality is required (and in this case, ClamAV shows "WARNING: Current functionality level = 1, required = 2"), but I may be wrong about this. I hope it helps. Best regards. -- José Juan Montes
