Maybe you have a hanged freshclam process in your machine. Tyr "pgrep
freshclam" to see if it is here and then kill the rpocesses ("pkill
freshclam").
Is possible that you end with a corrupted database, in this case you can
remove the database files (stored in /var/lib/clamav) and run freshclam again
