NIghtduke: Heya. If you're behind a router, you won't be able to connect to a VNC server that's *also* behind that router, using the router's IP address. That's called (among other things) a "hairpin turn", and most routers simply won't support it. If canyouseeme or GoToMyVNC says that your VNC server is reachable from the "outside world", then it is .. even though it may not be from the "inside world".
As for the echoServer idea ... it's intent is to connect to VNC Servers *without* needing to adjust the router. It's especially useful if there's more than one VNC server behind the same router (.i.e, port-forwarding is okay for one PC, but pretty awful if there are 10). cheers, Scott On Apr 27, 2008, at 10:29 AM, nightduke wrote: > Hi i have setup a echovnc server on my computer,i opened the ports > at my dsl router but i can't connect using my dsl ip address. > > But i check at http://www.canyouseeme.org/ port 5900 and it's opened. > > why i can connect to my computer over my ip addres? but if i try to > connect to 127.0.0.1 or 192.168.1.25 i can connect sucesfully. > > Thanks > > Nightduke ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by the 2008 JavaOne(SM) Conference Don't miss this year's exciting event.
