I found the x11vnc program today that I really like - it starts a vnc server
attached to x servers on actual displays. So, on a standard ubuntu install, I
didn't have to give it any parameters and it automatically attached to the
running display 0 (though a display can be specified on the command line, of
course).

In any case, I check through the sf/echogent sites again, and can't even find a
echo forwarder for linux -- what am I missing?

There's gotta be a way to handle that. Like, maybe, let the user specify which
VNC instance they want to log onto.

The ones I remember is the dealings with the x server - knowing which instance
the user is wanting to log on to can be very different in every linux install.
When I was testing it I had to start the vncserver and connect it to a specific
X server instance. We re all sure there s an easy way to do it - but time was
the issue that I recall

Daniel - What complexities, specifically? (just curious)

Daniel Horning wrote:

The server already exists

But due to complexities within the linux world and setting up the VNC server
itself it is only a relay system.

(since every variation of linux refers to the VNC setups differently it causes
issues which are not yet resolved.)

Hey all!

I'm having a great experience testing out EchoVNC under windows (and the
EchoServer for Linux); has anyone developed an EchoVNC Server for Linux? I
realize the SDK is available, but I don't think I'm not quite skilled enough to
implement it myself.

Thanks in advance!
