Hi Bnny Cygnion,

As you can read here : http://eciadsl.flashtux.org/download.php?lang=en,
"EciAdsl stable version 0.5, 2002/05/15 :
This version supports only ECI HiFocus modems."
...and :
"Development version,
This version supports all Globespan based modems (see the modems page)"
(detail here : http://eciadslhttp://eciadsl.flashtux.org/modems.php?lang=en&modem=12)

So you must install CVS version in order to connect with your Topcom Webr@cer 850 under Linux

Have a nice install' ;)
Hi,
I've did that. And again, I don't manage to get the modem to work.
I properly selected my modem, and configured my provider settings (Planet Internet was in the options).
But when I execute "startmodem", this is what I get :

<STARTMODEM>

setting up USB support (1/5)..

loading firmware (2/5)..

modem not found

</STARTMODEM>

When I run eci-doctor.sh, I get the following output :

<ECI-DOCTOR.SH>

You are using linux kernel version 2.4.18-14
Support for USB is OK
Preliminary USB device filesystem is OK
dabusb module is not loaded: OK
ehci-hcd module is not loaded: OK
UHCI support is OK
/dev/ppp is OK
HDLC support is OK
HDLC support is OK (no bug)
You are using pppd version (untested)
No existing PPP connection... trying to make one (please wait)

Cannot make a PPP connection: Fatal

</ECI-DOCTOR.SH>

And finally,
when I probe my modem, I get this output :

<PROBEDEVICE>
WARNING: before probing, please ensure that your USB devices are plugged in
and that your system's USB support is properly configured

USB modem to probe must be UNinitialized, it will surely appear as an unknown
device (because it is not initialized yet), for instance: ? (0547:2131)

config read from /etc/eciadsl/eciadsl.conf

your USB devices:
1: USB UHCI Root Hub (0000:0000)
2: USB UHCI Root Hub (0000:0000)
3: USB-ADSL Modem / GlobeSpan Inc. (0915:8000)

enter device to probe (1-3): 3

probing, please wait..

your USB devices now:
1: USB UHCI Root Hub (0000:0000)
2: USB UHCI Root Hub (0000:0000)
3: USB-ADSL Modem / GlobeSpan Inc. (0915:8000)

probed USB device: USB-ADSL Modem
VID1=0915, PID1=8000
VID2=0915, PID2=8000
Did you really unplug/replug your modem before launching this script?

</PROBEDEVICE>

What must I do now, and in which order?

Thanks,
Benny
