Hi All...

Firstly.. I can't find any step by step documentation on how to setup
pppoe with eciadsl so I'm not sure I've done everything right.. I've got
a problem authenticating over pppoe.. I'll include details below:

I've set up the eciadsl driver to connect using
LLC_SNAP_RFC1483_BRIDGED_ETH_NO_FCS. I've told eciadsl that my isp uses
dhcp. Also.. how do I know if my ISP uses dhcp? If I don't select dhcp
my tap0 doesn't come up cleanly...

I've installed kernel 2.6.9. It should be configured correctly, I've
made sure that it has all the bits the readme/faq said I need..

When I run startmodem the following happens and then tap0 is available:

--------------------------------------------------
setting up USB support (1/5)..

loading TAP/TUN support
tun loaded successfully

loading firmware (2/5)..

Process skipped .. no more needed
firmware loaded successfully

setting up modem (3/5)..

ECI load 2: success
synchronization successful

connecting modem (4/5)..

connection successful

setting up route table (5/5)..

waiting for tap0..
--------------------------------------------------

The problem I'm having is that is as far as I get. When I try to connect
using pppoe (rp-pppoe) I get the following in my logs:

--------------------------------------------------
Nov 3 11:37:53 purple pppd[8309]: pppd 2.4.2 started by root, uid 0
Nov 3 11:37:53 purple pppd[8309]: Using interface ppp0
Nov 3 11:37:53 purple pppd[8309]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/pts/2
Nov 3 11:38:24 purple pppd[8309]: LCP: timeout sending Config-Requests
Nov 3 11:38:24 purple pppd[8309]: Connection terminated.
Nov 3 11:38:28 purple pppoe[8310]: Timeout waiting for PADO packets
Nov 3 11:38:28 purple pppd[8309]: Exit.
--------------------------------------------------

I've got rp-pppoe configured to use tap0.

Also.. after trying to connect I find that my tap0 interface has sent
bytes but no receied bytes. This is after trying to connect a few
times:

--------------------------------------------------
tap0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:FF:3A:77:BF:C5
          inet6 addr: fe80::2ff:3aff:fe77:bfc5/64 Scope:Link
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:17 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
          RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:762 (762.0 b)
--------------------------------------------------

Any suggestions?

Thanks..

Daniel
