Ecofeminism is about the way that patriarchal Western systems of
oppression have placed both women AND nature in positions of other...
degraded, devalued other. Trying to work against these systems of
oppression is about feminism AND the environment. As an Ecofeminist, I
believe they go hand in hand, and are not two distinct jobs. It is not
so much about if a woman or a man is the individual behind environmental
policy-making. Just because someone is female does not mean that the
person will not view the environment with a very patriarchal gaze.
