Over-population/consumption is a VERY vital issue - and, yes, it is
definitely environmental! I can't figure out how this country got
off the track - not too many years ago, a dialogue was begun on this,
but it was dropped like a "hot......" (you know)!
All I will say is - in MY life - I have chosen to NOT have children
for this reason (and others), but instead of being somehow "admired"
for it - or otherwise "thanked," my relatives/alleged friends treat me
as if I could be from outer space - and my government TAXES me more
for being a "single adult" - NO KIDS! This is the first year that
the "Earned Income Credit" (for low-income folk) has been available
for those withOUT children! Naturally, the credit is MUCH *LOWER*
than for those WITH children - but POVERTY is POVERTY! I am out of
this situation now, but when I was "in" it, I totally resented being
told that if I didn't have CHILDREN, I couldn't get a DIME of
"assistance" money. Had I not had an INDIVIDUAL for a landlord, I
would have been a homeless person. No rental "company" would have
tolerated one, much less SEVERAL months without a rent check (no - no
family help either! Remember? No kids? No worth?).
In light of the above "governmental rules," it is quite amusing to see
the political discussions on not "paying women to have children,"
when in EVERY way, they *"PENALIZE"* those who do NOT have them!
Which is worse? Is *MY* life a total wipe-out?
