jackie -- Don't feel so bad. At tax time, my husband and I grit our teeth in
irritation. Same with Mother's/Father's Day. Where we live, the family size
averages 4-5 per family because of it being a "50's Catholic" mentality.
When we went to the Catholic Church we were always being asked when we were
going to have kids. It was annoying -- And what if we were a couple who
wanted kids but couldn't have them? It would have been very upsetting.
I want to make a shirt that says "Happy Unparents Day" to wear on these two
holidays. I don't have enough guts to do so here.
As for family, my in-laws are always hinting "grandkid, grandkid, grandkid."
But we only want one kid and not right now -- both of us are in grad school
so how could we afford it? Even with the credit from the govn't it still
wouldn't be enough. We are always given a hard time about only wanting one
kid because "only children have it bad." Well, I was an only child 'til age
nine and I was a lot happier then before I got my two stepsisters.
Anyhow, the US govn't just doesn't make sense!
Peace,
mary
