re Kylie's comments re Christians in Australia.

I am a Christian who lives in Australia and have never ever said that gays
and lesbians will go to Hell ... and I have to say also that I have never
heard any of my lesbian and gay Christian friends say so either - nor
indeed many of the Christians I spend any time with. I find that your
comments are at least as prejudiced, and as offensive, as you accuse the
church of being.

Many many pople within the Catholic church condemn outright the sexual
violence that has been perpetrated on children and women by the clergy, and
are working actively and vocally to support these people and to have the
church take responsibility for this appalling behaviour. Members of the
Uniting church are addressing the issue of lesbian and gay participation in
the church - a number of lesbian and gay ministers have 'come out' over the
past few months. Indeed there has been some condemnation but there has
also been a great deal of support.

There are bigots everywhere, and the christian churches are certainly not
immune, but there are also exceptionally fine people within the church
working extremely hard and extremely actively for justice for all people.
The work that members of the Australian churches did against apartheid in
South Africa was one of many crucial supports for the South African
churches in their part of the successful overturning of the apartheid
regime (not that I am deluding myself that all is perfect in South Africa
yet).

Suggesting that you inform yourself rather than simply condemn.
