Actually, the animals-for-education issue is discussed in
GREAT depth on these two shows (I was at both tapings lastnight).
I, too, do not wish to get into a debate about keeping whales
captive because I, too, have very strong opinions on the matter.
However, a great issue was made that can't we come to love
whales, dolphins, elephants, etc., by watching them do what
such animals naturally do, rather than training them to do
rediculous tricks that have NOTHING to do with their normal habits?
As such, whether you support aquariums or zoos (sorry, but animal
circuses should be outlawed!), then can't the environment the animals
live in at least support the well-being and dignity of the animals,
rather than be an entertainment industry for people??
Just a thought, not a flame :)
The issues regarding whales in the Pugent Sound are also
discussed in great length. Also covered is what Japan has done
to further the whaling industry, as well as Sea World's involement
in these hunts/gatherings and purchase of whales. Talk about
eye-opening! According to what was preseneted, there's a whole
lot of blood on Sea World's hands!
