The central insight of the deep ecology movement is that the most
stubborn and subtle (subliminal) form of racism is HUMAN racism -
the attitude that humans are for some reason more precious,
deserving and indispensable than all the reat of our ecosystem taken
together. However, without that environment to support us, we too
shall perish. The pinnacle cannot be more valuable or essential than
the foundation. Gaia's ecology could (and has done) just fine
without us; we cannot live without it. If this means we must control
our numbers, then SO BE IT, for the alternative is to perish, along
with our comrade species, in the charnel-house into which we are
transforming our Eden.
