It is a logical contradiction, Joe, but the counter-argument is that
coed institutions already favor men. This has been proven in many
studies. So, supporting all-male schools would give men yet another
advantage.

My opinion is that in coed institutions, women get slighted and men get
the better education. I'm an advocate of single-sex education for
women, and quite honestly I haven't considered single-sex education for
men. They seem to do quite well at coed schools. Thanks for giving me
something to think about Joe. :)

institutions while opposing all-male ones. Perhaps males would do
better minus the distraction of the macho posturing in which they
frequently engage to impress their female classmates. I was quite
satisfied with attending a coed university, but such options, in
principle, should be open to either both genders, or neither of them (in
the interests of genderblind egalitarianism). I see nothing wrong with
offering a class for exclusively one gender, as long as another class,
with the same teacher and curriculum, is simultaneously available for
those of both genders who would prefer to take the class coed.
