Yes, paridigm shift!
Overpopulation in ecological terms means both population density and carrying
capacity of the land ('third world' overpopulation) PLUS development and
technology issues ('first world' overconsumption). Both have to do with
male-dominated ideologies. Development means controlling the earth's
reproductive capacities, and population issues often involve patriarchal
systems controlling women's reproductivity. I think we have to look at both.
Why does it have to be either/or? If nothing else, ecofeminism should be
all-inclusive, because the issues are all related.
