On the topic of Interships....we work with several groups, especially in Latin Am. The first thing people and usually U. level Students ask is "How much does it pay?" They are a bit surprised when we tell them that not only do they not pay a stipend, etc., you have to pay them. In every case, from Belize to Bolivia....when people return, nothing but rave reviews. Most of these are at least one semester long. We could make some money on these, but gave on that idea long ago. Today with the e-mail being what it is, most students have a list of options in front of them before they make a decision. Nothing against U. Students, would probably do the same myself. You can invest a great deal of time in trying to place a Student in the correct setting, only to never hear from them again because they have made another choice. So, I just have a standard e-mail with contacts at a variety of sites, send that and copy everyone on the e-mail and forget about it. Rarely do I hear what ever happens.
