POST-DOCTORAL POSITION 

Spatial dynamics and landscape structure 


A multidisciplinary research team working on “Multi- and Interdisciplinary 
Approaches to Understand Spatio-Temporal Patterns of Insect Pests and Design 
Landscapes for Sustainable Pest Management in Tropical Agricultural Systems” is 
seeking for an independent, self-motivated post-doc. 
The post-doc will investigate host plant preference and the fitness effects of 
host plants and abiotic factors on an insect pest. The posdoc will also use the 
data to produce estimates to implement functions through computer programming 
for simulation analysis and model development. The candidate must have 
experience in computer programming and statistical modelling. 
The selected candidate will be granted a 2-yr Post-Doctoral Fellowship from the 
Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP – www.fapesp.br/en 
), which can be renewed for one extra year. This opportunity is open to 
candidates of all nationalities. 
Salary: R$6.143,40 (nearly U$2,000/month – free of tax). Fellowship also 
included a research contingency fund equivalent to 15% of the annual value of 
the fellowship to be used on activities directly related with the proposed 
research activity, including data presentation in national/international 
meetings.
