This brought a quick thought to mind, since I haven't felt the need for
much variety in my breakfast; lunch and dinner are different! ; ) . I some
places in the world, not necessarily out of lack of choice, people eat the
same basic foods for a given meal of the day. Nepal's dal bhaat (rice and
lentil) comes to mind. For nutrition a certain amount of variety is
necessary (over a week, but not in a day?) and may effect our desires, but
how much of our desire for variety comes from cultural patterning?

My wife and I have gotten into the relatively boring but enjoyed routine of
eating rolled oats and raisins (no milk). We usually eat whatever fruit is
in season along with it. We are not yet producing oats or raisins, though
we have wild oats growing on our property (edible but difficult to harvest)
and we have started some grapes (table grapes not wine grapes, though we
live in California's "wine country"). We buy both the raisins and the oats
in bulk from a local organic bakery, which evidentially buys in BULK.

Yesterday a thoughtful friend brought us some blue berries and our
boysenberries are ripe, so maybe we'll have muffins or pancakes this
morning - if we have any left ; )

I have recently found a small stevia plant, affectionately called Steve.
We are allowing it to get a little bigger before we do anything with him,
but I don't know what to do (haven't looked either). If you don't mind,
could you let me know what you do or where I can find the info? Thanks.
