Our unique beliefs limit us individually to seeing only one
dimension of truth. We can see other dimensions of truth
only through those who hold beliefs different from our own.
   -- John Ikerd

The above quote is from a discussion of truth on sanet-mg. It
was part of a conclusion that truth may be absolute, but we
only have limited senses to explore truth and it appears
different to each person due to their unique experience base.

This view leads to some conclusions about life and ecology:
 1. Our view of the world is relative to our experience
    and imperfect.
 2. Associating with diverse viewpoints and people is
    good for growth and education.
 3. Our path through life needs to remain dynamic and
adjustable to incorporate new ideas. In other words,
our education is never over, and our exploration of truth
    is never complete.

This view of truth is not compatible with much of contemporary
society, but is seldom discussed. Those in control usually
want an absolute definition of truth (theirs). In times of
stress a society wants simple answers and this is true of
 individuals also.

So... is our society under stress and desperate for
simple truth's? What if life, ecology, and truth
 isn't simple... what results?
