Carol teased:
>young carrots, pac choi, radishes, cilantro, broccoli (both purple
>and green), onions, leeks, mizuna, kale, Swiss chard, corn salad, arugula,
>celery, tomatoes from last summer ripening on my kitchen
>counter and pumpkins and squash and dried elderberries in my garage and
>potatoes and onions in my basement and zucchini and elderberries in my
>freezer, etc.
Very impressive. I assume all this is from a urban permaculture
garden?
We still have canned goods in the pantry and a root cellar with
about a months worth of food. I've started on next years garden
and plan to grow all spring using cloches plus other solar devices.
Garden thoughts:
- Organic slug control using iron phosphate has some new
products appearing. They are less expensive than Escar-Go.
- My chives and some of the bulbing onions are up. These
potato onions are still my favorite for ease of growing.
- Pac Choi is one of our more reliable winter crops. It is
a favorite in stir fry dishes.
We have lots of wild elderberries but i've never found a use
for them. Anyone know ways to prepare them other than wine
and preserves?
