If you are properly reconciling functional acks, then issue one is not
really an issue, no FA, retransmit the document.. stuff happens. As far a
security, VANs have some of the same issues, if someone want to steal your
data, they probably will. We set up a FTP set up to replace EDI via a VAN
for a client last year. The client is saving about 50K per year. Hard to
argue with savings like that.
