UBL?? Why, it's the hottest new XML e-business variant around. It's
the successor of xCBL from the defunct Commerce One. See Uche Ogbuji's
recent article, "UBL 1.0 (plus ebXML Core Components and more)" at
http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/xml/library/x-think28.html.

Yes, I can see your point that EDIINT "seems like one step forward and
one step backwards." See http://www.novannet.com/ediint.html.

I think that the VAN consolidation (GE, Advantis, etc.) is a direct
result of more clients finding cheaper alternatives to transmitting EDI.

Can someone draw me a map of who is who? GE eats IBM, Inovis eats QRS,
but QRS resells Advantis. Advantis is/was on IBM?? Does GE also control
Advantis?

This is a good thing (but confusing) for most of my clients.

EDIINT is growing. We only connect to WalMart, Hudsons Bay and Dollar
General (soon) right now, but the list is increasing.

The transmission is cheaper, but the software is much more expensive and
it seems counter-productive to have to connect directly to multiple AS2
servers.

This seems like one step forward and one step backwards.

We don't do HIPAA. I don't think RFID is going to have a big impact in
EDI. The problem will be linking the RFID tag & containers, which is
already being done with the labels.

UBL? What's that?
