Thank you all for your general advice. We currently use a VMI tool successfully. We are aware of the drawbacks, challenges, etc.
What we do not know are the names of software providers. We are not looking for a hosted solution, but software. Our current software provider is forcing an upgrade, so it is time to look at our options. Oracle, our ERP, does not provide what we need for VMI. Even in the medical industry there are issues with seasonality, stock outs, emergency stock, cycle turns, possible consignment inventory etc. Some products may not fit into a VMI model because of low volume.
