I also believe that the DTMF tones between companies should be separately agreed upon, it will make it much more difficult for telemarketers to cold call you. In addition, I think each web server, smtp server and ftp server should listen on different ports as defined by the company, strictly for security purposes. While we are at it, I think each company should define their values to their company character set, and can send out the map only to their trading partners. This will definitely aid in the security of e-mail between companies. The more I think about it, there is so much we can do to increase security by doing away with standards. I'm all for it.
