For fear of being flamed again I want to stand on my soapbox and shout to you all, Yes Michael, thank you for your remarks.
I am a professional, I have over 18 years of EDI experience in the automotive sector in both Ansi X12 and UN/Edifact. I had to work my way up from a person who got dumped on because no one saw a future in this to working with all of the big names in the Industry, Honda, Toyota, Nissan, GM, Saturn, Ford, etc.. For what it is worth, my 18 years of experience come with a price tag and it was hard on me and many a night not home with the family to get here. I am not going to educate someone so they can BS their way into a position and hurt the rest of us who have done our jobs so that we could be considered an EDI Professional, of which I do feel that I am. Yes, I want to educate what I know to the next generation. That was how I was taught at McDonnell Douglas when I worked there. I was in Corporate Education and I love to pass on data to help people. But for the life of me, I just can't do it anymore for free. Flame me again if you want, but somebody somewhere has to take a stand. We all had to start from somewhere, if you want to make your entry into EDI, I recommend you get an ENTRY LEVEL (means 0 or close to 0 experience) mapper job and from there build your way up. How did you do "a lot of maps" in Gentran if you do not know what X12 is? You would also know as you state "How a edi tool work" and you would know what a "trading partner" is and what an "envelope" then maybe you would do well in your interview. I feel bad for your potential employer if you BS your way through to get the job. EDI is NOT a like an easy programming language that you can pick simply pick up if you are a good developer, EDI is an industry, you have to appreciate the fact that it takes years to build good experience to make a career out of it. You can not do that in two days. _____ From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of nishu kr Sent: Sunday, May 14, 2006 2:08 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [edi_gns] RE: [EDI-L] PLEASE HELP AS EARLY AS POSSSIBLE. thanks all , now i have certainly come to know a lot about this field. i accept my fault of not properly putting my querries.
