We even use the 855 as a vendor-originated purchase order for customers for whom we have a CPFR relationship.
It's quite the Swiss Army knife. :) -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Jon Garniss Sent: Thursday, September 21, 2006 12:26 PM To: Tyrone Lumley; saffinn; [email protected] Subject: RE: [EDI-L] 855 Vs 997 Saffin, This is not necessarily true. While it is an application of the 855 document that is valid, a lot of companies use the 855 to confirm that the 850 has valid part numbers, that ship dates can or can not be met, that quantities can be fully or partially shipped, and other various business rules relating to the 850 received. That is, there are no distros. This document verifies you agree with the terms and conditions of the PO, which are incorporated by reference when you receive the distros. A 997 only verifies that the raw EDI document was recd, and reports back any EDI errors, if any. saffinn <[EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:saffinn%40yahoo.co.in> > wrote: Hi all, I have a clarification to be made regarding the 855. When 855 is an Acknowledgement to PO(850), we can as well go for Functional Ack (997). considering the fact that we want to implement 855 which is a time and cost factor as compared to 997. why is that the clients still go for 855?? does 997 not satisfy their requirment?? any specific advantages of 855 over 997? Please let me know. Thanks in Advance, regards, sahil. --------------------------------- All-new Yahoo! Mail - Fire up a more powerful email and get things done faster.
