If this is the case, I would expect to see an SOI ASN. The LIN segment at
the item level could be sent with a UK, or similar qualifier for the UPC
Case code. UK seems to be the code that I've seen most grocery comppanies
use. The IT1 segment would tell you the total qty for each sku being
shipped. You could then include a PO4 segment after each LIN. The PO4 will
give you the pack structure for each case. For instance if it is 6 eaches in
a box you would receive a PO4 that looked like this PO4*6~. If you have a
carton that had 6 inner packs in it, but each of those inner packs had 20
items in it that could be sold individually (for instance boxes of gum) you
would get a PO4 that would look like this PO4*6*************20~. You could
then even have a TD1 segment sent at the item level that tells you the total
number of cartons for each sku. I don't know that I've ever personally seen
this segment used at the item level, but it is in the X12 standard so it
could be used and would give you all of the information that you require.

Well, we are in the grocery wholesale business. We Receive into the
warehouse by breaking down each pallet and re-palletizing before
putaway. We need to know the product pack (6 to a pack) as we can
also sell individual items from a pack. We don't need the UCC128
case labels nor do we need the tare/pallet labels.
As one of my vendors stated that their ASN maps which don't include
UCC128 label information have either the Pack or Item level but not
both then I assume I need pack level which gives me not only case
UPC but also # of cases as well as pack information. This sounds
like SOP level (shipment, order, pack).
