Of course, like everything else, it depends on what you want to do with this
data. If you are cross docking you would want to know the number of cartons,
lading qty and weight at the shipment level. You'll see this with a number
of the large retail stores. They will have you ship to their DC but mark it
for their stores. It goes in the front door, get's split up and goes right
back out the back door onto another truck destined for the store and does
not spend any amount of time at the DC. If you don't know how many cartons
are at a particular O level, which is often used to designate each store on
an ASN from an SDQ PO, you won't know how much room you need on the truck.

The number of cartons, weight and lading quantity "at the order level" is
totally useless information. If you are tracing a shipment, you want those
values at the *shipment* level. Unless you thinkYellow Freight can figure
out that six of those twelve pieces (the lading quantity) they picked up
yesterday are for your PO 12345.
Given my druthers, if I had to convey invoice number and department number -
and assuming these are in fact assigned on a "per purchase order" basis -
in an ASN, I think I'd choose to use an (O)rder level HL loop SUBORDINATE to
the pack (standard pack) or Item (pick-and-pack) loop.
