Ask him how many checks he wrote during the entire calendar year of 1990
and how many he wrote last year.
Unless he lives in a cave and doesn't use credit/atm networks and online
banking/billpay (Both forms of EDI) he should get the idea.
Think of the most paper-intensive area of your organization and imagine
all of that paper disappearing.
The data entry it represents already having already been done by, in
most cases...
somebody else.
If you're not sure whether your documents can be supplanted by EDI, tell
us more about them and we can probably figure out which types of
transactions you're talking about.
Thanks,
Martin Morrison

Subject: [EDI-L] Need a PPT on EDI or EDI for Dummies
I was wondering if anyone has and could please forward me a PPT
presentation about what EDI is. Basically EDI for Dummies
without going
into detail about specific EDI softwares. Yes I know what it is
and I
have tried to explain it to our Director of Sales but it is as
if we
are speaking two different languages and I fear he will never
understand. I speak "geek" and he speaks "would sell my momma
for a
penny" and I have been unable to find a translator to bridge the
gap
between our two languages.
I have a little mpeg of the little guy beating his head on his
keyboard
until it bleeds, but that's not graphic enough info for him and
he
demands more. I have tried going into more detail but he does
not
understand FTP, SMTP, sFTP, SSH, AS2 or anything else. So if
anyone out
there has simple enough PPT for a "trained monkey" (my analogy
of a
sales rep) to understand please forward you would be saving my
overworked self a lot of grief. Yes I checked the files section
first
to no avail.
Thanks in Advance,
Char
