No wonder I have such problems.
When I tell them my rate recently, they tell me they can get the same experience for half that amount. Funny how they call me back a month later to come in and fix the problems caused by the expert. And also, funny how my rate is higher the second time..I cal that the frustration factor. I know for a fact there will be frustration involved with fixing the foreigners screw-up. Now, to defend a few: I worked with one man from India who told me in the interview he did not know EDI very well at all, and was hoping I could teach him. We worked together for about a year, and he picked it up well. I applauded him in that he never overstated his abilities, he was hired because he was a SQL Dba. ______________________________________________ Chris Cancilla From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Thursday, January 22, 2009 2:56 PM To: 'EDI-L' Subject: RE: [EDI-L] Check list for EDI daily monitoring Dear list, Where can I find the cheap ones? We keep paying high dollar for the "so called" experts. :) There are some great websites in other countries on what questions (with answers) to expect at an SAP interview. If you study hard, and your friends backup your bogus resume, landing a company job can be very easy. But that is in SAP. EDI they usually come in as consultants. Sorry, just my experience. And some helpful advice from some well meaning foreigners just trying to help me be competitive. The thought is "I can do anything you want me to." That is what I was told. Bas-sic-cal-ly, assign me the job, and I will learn whatever technology you need me to learn to do the job. There was no issue, no understanding, whether what was on the resume was true experience or just a list of technologies the person was willing to work with or learn. Amazing. Just this morning there was a guy who asked the Basis list how to set up EDI interfaces in SAP. There are a lot of people out there, and I've had personal experience with a number on large project sites in California, who have no experience but have pawned themselves off as both expert and cheap. All too often they slip thru the cracks because they get resume writing and interview support on the web and from other like-minded frauds and of course management loves the cheap rates they're being farmed out for so is often willing to overlook red flags. But they pay for their stupidity in the end, in shoddy work, missed deadlines, and having to hire competent consultants to fix the mistakes of the frauds.
