HEY! You make it sound hard. Not fun!
To me.mapping is my Disneyworld! I never made a map that was not entertaining..at least for me. As for our friend, you are right. He low balled the contract and took it from someone. I feel sorry for who ever it was that hired him. They are the one's who will pay for his incompetance ______________________________________________ Chris Cancilla From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Tyrone Lumley Sent: Wednesday, January 21, 2009 8:57 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [EDI-L] Check list for EDI daily monitoring *sigh* I hate to be a hater, but why do I get the feeling this guy just took a consulting gig for a very low price ? Maybe not, I've been wrong before. Really. Like others have said, there are no shortcuts. In it's essence, EDI is kinda like E-mail combined with a database. To understand mapping, you have to understand database schemas and structure, business rules and logic, some programming, etc. Once you get that, you have to know the tool you are using really well. I only had about 5 years exposure to EDI, but I learned a lot during that time. I also learned that there is a LOT more to learn. Good luck, You're gonna need it. --- On Wed, 1/21/09, Emmanuel Hadzipetros <[email protected] <mailto:ehadzipetros%40hotmail.com> > wrote: From: Emmanuel Hadzipetros <[email protected] <mailto:ehadzipetros%40hotmail.com> > Subject: RE: [EDI-L] Check list for EDI daily monitoring To: "'Nancy Plume'" <[email protected] <mailto:nplume%40wfubmc.edu> >, "'rdhaprakasam2003'" <[email protected] <mailto:rdhaprakasam%40gmail.com> >, [email protected] <mailto:EDI-L%40yahoogroups.com> Date: Wednesday, January 21, 2009, 8:15 AM Right on . there are no short-cuts to learning anything, let alone something as complex and mission-critical as EDI. Begin at the beginning and invest the time, the resources, the intelligence and . the initiative . to learn and gain experience. I have been doing EDI for more than 13 years and I learn something new every day... EDI - real EDI - is an art. Mapping is a skill that is learned and the really good mappers are artists in mapping.
