Jim > I was talking with an EDI salesperson yesterday and heard that Costco has outsourced their testing. The fee is $300.00. That sounds like right around the typical price $200-$500, right?
Correct. WalMart is free. > Are the margins typically so tight that a testing fee can break the deal? I have heard about this happening with a few other vendor/retailer relationships and want to get some feedback. Never happened to me. The worst that happened was choosing to use the iTradeNetwork web interface instead of paying over $20,000 for implementation of X12. For a small volume of orders ( 5 - 10 per week) they thought it was simpler to manually re-enter the POs into their ERP system. Even paying over $2,000 for a Thermal Transfer printer with a 6" throat to print special labels for one TP. All my clients are so eager to get the business that they see the testing fee as another cost. Earl Wertheimer [email protected] http://www.spe-edi.com ------------------------------------ ...
