Tim, As mentioned by previous post, trying to get the CONTRL document from EU customers is difficult. I have tried and received very few positive responses. In Australia almost every customer uses or requires you to send a CONTRL document.
In the UK, Ireland, and European countries we do have a lot of customers especailly in Spain that send us a GENRAL message which contains any errors on our INVOIC or DESADV documents. The GENRAL message is similar to an 864 (I think I have that right) that contains genral text message. We load these messages into SAP Workflow for the individual countries Customer service analyst to read and react to the message. Therefore you basically hear if something is wrong but not if everything is received.
